Stations in Room 102

December 5, 2012 · 2 Comments · Uncategorized

To all our readers, we are so sorry that we haven’t published anything lately. It has been very busy here. But let me start back with a short video.

My class loves doing stations.   Check out our slide show to see what we are doing.  We use the framework of The Daily Five in our stations:  Read to Self, Listen to Reading, Word Work, Writing, and Read with the Teacher.

We have an Early Literacy program on our school portal called ABRACADABRA. There are interactive stories to read, letter and sound activities, comprehension activities and writing activities. We can use this station for Word Work or Reading. We are lucky to have 5 macbooks loaned to us from Corcordia University in Montreal where this program was developed. We slowly introduced each station using anchor charts to help the children remember what to do. I am using leveled books from Reading A-Z, an online site where you can download texts. I am enjoying having the time to read with small groups.

    Dear Mrs Lynch and children,

I think it is awesome that you have different work stations. This makes for a fun way to learn at each station.

I wonder do any of you have a favourite station.

Just loved watching your video, great to see everyone so keen working hard and learning.

Pretty soon we will be having our summer holiday here in Australia as it’s already summer here. Hopefully the days will start to warm up so hopefully for Christmas it will be warm.

    Keep on working.

    From your pal down under,
    AA :)

      Hello AA,
Thanks for your great comment. I guess Bianca is out of school for the holidays. I hope you have a great holiday together and with all your family. We have two more weeks of school and then we’ll be off for two weeks. It is so different to think that you will be having a barbecue for Christmas when we are hoping for a white Chrsitmas. Snow is forcasted for tonight. I wonder what it will look like in the morning.
You asked me if I had a favorite season. Although I like all the seasons I might say that I like winter because I like snow for skiing. I love having a “snow day”. That’s when we have a big snowstorm and I get a phone call saying school is canceled for the day. That is just the best!
      from,
      Mrs. Lynch
