We have been learning about famous painters like Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso. We learned that Picasso liked to use shapes in his drawings and sculptures. He used African masks to get some of his inspirations. We tried to imitate his “blue period” in our paintings. We used blue and white paint to create different shades of blue. We also tried to make our portraits look like Picasso’s by making our facial features in different places.
I found this cool website where you can make Picasso heads. Click on this link and go to Picassohead. Then click on play.
Don’t forget to sign your name. We need to do that on our paintings. I will have to update our picture next week when we have a chance to sign them.

Picasso may have been feeling”blue”, but your paintings make me feel wonderful! You are all so creative and unique. Why do you think Pablo Picasso would put facial features in unexpected places? This element makes your paintings very creative!
Vincent Van Gogh and Henri Matisse are two of my favorite “master” painters because they use such bold colours. The modern artist Andy Warhol is also one of my favorites. I like the simplicity and boldness of his work.
Merci. I loved seeing your work.

Dear Mrs Lynch and class,
I like how you used your imaginations painting all the different Picasso`s. They all look wonderful. My two favourite artists are Van Goh and Henri Matisse because they paint with alot of expression
and beautiful colours
Best Wishes Bianca.
Dear Mrs Lynch,
THANK YOU for the Piasso head site. I love it so much
From Your Friend Bianca.
Dear Mrs Lynch and your students,
wow what a wonderful lot of beautiful painters you all are. I just love them all as they all had special facial features which really draws you into the paintings.
I must say my favourite artist is Van Gogh I just love how he uses colours and different shapes in his paintings. Also I don`t mind some of the work of the artist Salvador Dali. My two favourite paintings that he painted is the Rose Meditalive and the other painting is Person in the Window. I love his use of colour and how he makes simple items look so beautiful
From your friend down under AA.
I love your blue paintings. Blue is my favourite colour. I think it’s really interesting that even though everyone had the same paper, and the same colours each painting is very different.
Good job, artists!
Shanna (Catherine’s Aunt)
Dear Shanna,
I agree with you. I think everyone did an amazing job on this activity. All the paintings are so different. Thanks for your wonderful comment.

Hi AA,
Thanks so much for commenting on our blue paintings. I love art so much and it fun to see what the kids can create with paint and a paint brush. They all really try to use techniques of the famous artist that we talk about. I love Vincent Van Gogh, too. We tried to do a chair in his style. Hopefully, I will be able to post those, too.

Dear Bianca,
Thanks for both of your comments. I’m glad you like the Picasso head website. My kids are loving learning about some famous artists. I love to do art and to go to museums to see famous paintings. Do you have a favorite museum that you like to visit? I think I agree with your choice of favorite artists.
your friend,
Mrs. Lynch
Dear Mrs Lynch,
thankyou for your comment. Yes I do have a favourite Museum and it is in Melbourne.
I have never been to a museum and am looking forward to going to Melbourne just to visit the museum
